Step-by-Step Guide to Bump Test a Honeywell MultiRAE Gas Monitor
Welcome to this step-by-step guide on how to bump test your MultiRAE gas detectors. Have you purchased one of these devices and don't know how to go about using it? Don't worry. In this blog post, we'll provide you with all the information you need to know to be a pro at bump testing MultiRAE gas detectors. We'll cover things like the process of powering it up, beginning a fresh air calibration, making sure the pump is working properly, and performing a bump test. We'll also provide you with useful information on how to maintain the meter and access service for anything beyond routine use and maintenance.
So, if you're ready to become an expert in MultiRAE safety, keep on reading!
Bump testing a MultiRAE gas detector is essential for ensuring that the device is functioning correctly and can give reliable results. This can be done with a fresh air calibration followed by a bump test. This section of the guide is divided in 3 parts: a brief overview of the process, a step-by-step demonstration on how to perform a fresh air calibration and bump test, and some recommended care for the MultiRAE gas detector.
Performing a Fresh Air Calibration and Bump Test:
To begin, press and hold the mode button until the device beeps, indicating the warm-up is complete. Once this is done, you will be prompted to perform a fresh air calibration.Enter a clean fresh air environment and press the Y+ key to start. Check that the pump is working correctly by blocking the gas inlet of the detector - the pump should stall and an alarm will sound. Press the Y+ button to restart and begin the bump test. To check all the sensors, more than one cylinder of gas may be needed. When complete, the screen will display "pass" or "fail" for each one. Finally, remove the gas and return to normal operation mode.
- Power up the MultiRAE by pressing and holding the mode key until you hear a beep
- Enter a clean fresh air environment and press the Y+ key
- Block the gas inlet to check the pump is working correctly
- Kill and restart the pump then begin the bump test
- Use more than one cylinder if needed to cover all sensors
- Once complete, a "pass" or "fail" will be displayed for each one
- Return to normal operation mode
Now that you have been thoroughly briefed on the operations and maintenance of MultiRAE Gas Detectors, you can confidently follow the crucial steps of bump testing your system. In order to stay safe and compliant with regulations, we encourage you to consistently test your system.
The monitor should be calibrated every time it does not pass a bump test, but no less frequently than every six months, depending on use and exposure to gas and contamination, and its operational mode.
